1100 Gallon Well Brings Irrigation to Dry Cheyenne Land
In Cheyenne County area formerly dry land farming, an 1100 gallon per minute irrigation well was drilled on John Treinen and Sons land at South Divide. Drillers John Chapman and Ed Killham reached 153 feet after blasting through rock and sand. water was found at 117 feet. The Treinens plan to grow cattle feed crops and plant corn once the pump is installed, prompted by wheat allotment pressures and a shift from wheat to other farming.

Banner County is designated a Sheep scabies eradication area by the U S Department of Agriculture after an outbreak of the disease in a flock of 80 sheep. Last Rites Held For Adolph Grage
Funeral services were held Thursday for Adolph Grage 80 of Sidney who died Sunday in Memorial Hospital after a year of declining health. Rev Henry Monnich of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church officiated at two PM at Gehrig and Son Funeral Home. Interment followed at Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers were Roy Sanks Sam DeBusk Frank Hengl Roy Tobler Howard Portz and Jerry Clark. Grage born January 6 1884 at Grand Mound Iowa moved to Cheyenne County in 1916 farmed then worked for Union Pacific until retirement. He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. Survivors include three brothers and three sisters.

Henry Christofferson, 74, who came to Sidney in 1913, died Thursday noon at the Methesda Rest Home in North Platte. Funeral services will be held there in charge of the Schooner Funeral Home. He was a native of Iowa born in 1899. He had been a patient at the rest home since Dec. 4 and was hospitalized in Sidney prior to that time. Survived by Hazel Smith Denver Edwin C Rock Springs Russell Denver Phillip San Diego and Dorothy McIntyre Cheyenne.

Kenneth Darling Jr. 16 celebrated the last day of school in Lodgepole then overturned his 1957 Ford on a newly graded county road three and a half miles north and one half mile west of Lodgepole. The car flipped once but landed upright with Kenneth uninjured. Damages estimated at $600. He, on a school permit, delayed license pursuit but will retake the next exam day.
