Sidney High School names first Ackerman Band Scholarship winner
Gerald Wolf, son of Mr and Mrs Clifford Wolf, is the first recipient of the W P Ackerman Agency Bond Scholarship for outstanding band performance. Historical Group Gets Last Engine for Beatrice Park
The Cheyenne County Historical Association plans to obtain the final Union Pacific steam locomotive. Nebraska Superintendent J E Malick notified the Beatrice Chamber of Commerce that Engine No 407 is designated for shipment to Sidney for permanent display. Beatrice sought the engine for its city park, and local historians say this is the last UP engine available for communities.

Truck Trailer Rolls in Rural Mailbox Crash

Planned resurfacing on Highway 30 near Ogallala

A Gans Oklahoma motorist, Donald R. Bibb age 28, was clocked at 105 mph on Highway 30 by Nebraska Safety Patrol Sgt. Mel Busekist and was fined 55 dollars plus costs after pleading guilty. The chase ran from Brownson to Point of Rocks and an offense rare for speeds above 100.
