One Car Crash Claims Sidney Youth Jim Langdon
James Patrick Langdon 18 of Sidney died in a California auto crash Saturday near Newport Beach. He was ejected from the vehicle. three others were uninjured. Langdon, born September 2 1946 in Omaha, had just finished his freshman year at the University of Nebraska Lincoln and was employed in California for the summer. Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Sidney with burial in Greenwood Cemetery. The body lies in state at Gehrig and Son Funeral Home from Wednesday morning until Thursday noon. He is survived by his parents John M Langdon of Gretna and Lily Langdon of Sidney, two brothers Jack and Jerry, and a grandmother Mrs William Langdon of Gretna. The family designates Holy Trinity Lutheran Church for a memorial.

Oil Drilling Lease Signed For Potter Town
In a morning meeting the Potter Town Board approved selling an oil and gas lease to Arthur Guida of Akron Colo. The single bid included a 500 dollar bonus and a 40 dollar yearly delay rental if drilling starts within 18 months on 122 acres owned by the town excluding streets and alleys. Potter becomes the second Panhandle town to authorize drilling after Kimball.
