Sidney City Council Names New City Treasurer
City Council of Sidney in regular session accepted N E Medlock's resignation as City Treasurer and appointed J W Johnson to fill the vacancy. Bids for building walls to sidewalk level of the new city hall were opened. Sam Sweet offered the lowest bid of 2816.55 and the contract was awarded. The meeting also thanked H R Puller for his council service.

Boy Scouts And Master Take Hike
The troop started last Saturday at 6 30 from Central School with Scoutmaster David Lewis leading. Nine boys passed the tenderfoot exam and badges were ordered. After a long seven mile hike out and back total fourteen miles they camped it out with dry canteens and a replenished well. Lunch at ten o clock was praised as superb. Next week focuses on drill.

Baccalaureate Service for 1918 Class Held at Methodist Church

County War Fund Drive Surges Past Quota Early

Eighth Grade Pupils Receive Diplomas
Seventy eight graduates completed graduation ceremonies last Wednesday afternoon under county superintendent Miss Anna McFadden. The opera house drew friends from across the county to celebrate the class colors red white and blue displayed in bunting and flowers. The music, directed by Professor D J Lewis, received high praise. Honorable K Finlayson of Omaha delivered an address introduced by J M Swenson. Miss Ann Radcliff leaves for Des Moines Iowa to attend the wedding of sorority friend Miss Aura Bradford. She will be joined by Miss Lota Heizer of Dalton for a debut as Chautauqua attractions on June 3 in Derry Iowa. They are contracted with the Interstate Chautauqua circuit traveling through Town Wisconsin and Missouri. Radcliff excels in reading and impersonation while Heizer shows strong vocal talent. Esther Devine will travel to Omaha with Radcliff for two days of shops and theaters.
