Annual School Show Excels Past Onses
The annual school exhibit showcased student work across rooms with vivid decorations. Miss Neumner, Miss Spencer, and Miss McFadden led displays blending craft, history and patriotic themes while parents toured and noted the close teacher parent bonds.
Memorial Services of the G. A. R.
Memorial services at the Methodist Church on Sunday May 26 1918 at 11 am include choir songs prayers sermons and readings by Rev Light Rev Ives Rev Langston Rev Seville and Prof Lewis with Americans Darling. Decorations Day May 30 parade forms at 10 am in front of I0. F Hall to cemetery led by Sidney Drum Corps and graves decorated. At 2 pm post gathers at I.0. O. F Hall and moves to Tobin Opera House for program including song Lincoln s Gettysburg by Clayton Radcliffe address by Hon. W. P. Miles and benediction by Rev Langston. Home Guards and Sons of Veterans invited.

An open meeting of the Business Men's Club discussed how to raise Sidney and tributary county's quota of 2200 for the Red Cross War Fund drive to begin May 20. W. E. Swatzlander presided, F. A. Gapen acted as secretary, and volunteers were assigned to territories with W. L. Gaston as speaker. If weather allows, the talk will be on the courthouse lawn.

Sidney Band Elects Officers In County Courthouse Meeting
A group of musicians gathered Tuesday evening in the county courthouse to organize the Sidney Band electing Prof. D. J. Lewis as band director Harvey Bush as secretary and Glenn Van Gorder as treasurer The group began with a band practice and shows promise for fine summer concerts with community support anticipated.

Home Talent Scores Another Success in Benefit Play
A Friday May 10 benefit at Lodgepole drew a large audience for the Episcopal church event. The home talent performed Somewhere in France, highlighting French faith in America and urging United States duty in the crisis. Cast included C. W. West and Mrs. Margaret Martin as Monseuer and Madame Grau det and Clayton Parks, Phillis Corbett, Elvira Campbell, Ann Radcliff as Red Cross nurse, and Dr. Sherrerd. Special acts featured twenty boys in patriotic drill, Elvira Campbell, Sammies on the March, Home Guard, Norine Dedrick solo, Naomi Fishman patriotic reading. The guild netted about $150.
