Old Strong Box Unearthed In South 13th Avenue Project
G H Cronk and Son unearthed a heavy five hundred pound strong box from beneath an old rock foundation during housing work. Inscribed as manufactured in 1860, the box is linked to 1870s stagecoach era gold rush lore. It may have contained gold bullion from the 1879 Sidney Express Office robbery, a crime never solved.
