Swan Lake to Undergo Renovation Under Federal Aid Program

Lincoln’s Swan Lake in the Sand Hills between Burwell and Atkinson will be the first Nebraska lake renovated under a three year Federal Aid Project. The 240 acre lake once known for bass now hosts bullheads and carp. The Game Commission will retenone the lake May 17 to remove rough species, then stock bass bluegills northern pike and possibly crappie. Bullheads and carp may be available for observation after the procedure. The toxic compound does not affect fish eating qualities as they die by suffocation.
