Miss Deanne Peterson will host an 8th grade Dutch exchange pupil, Miss Nelline Van Ile, in Wayne. Peterson will then depart for New York in late July with other foreign exchange students for orientation before heading to Utrecht, Holland, about 22 miles from Amsterdam, for a year abroad.

More than 4,000 people attended the Armed Forces Day Open House at Sioux Ordnance Depot, nearly double last year’s 1,674. Weather was favorable, with minor sprinkles and near perfect temperatures. New features aided the turnout, including two helicopters, Nike Ajax and Corporal missiles, and visitors were allowed to bring cameras. About 1,400 kids rode a two-car train, 1,500 took one-hour bus tours, and guardsmen demonstrated weapons. Visitors came mainly from Western Nebraska, Wyoming, and Colorado.

Near Head-On Collision Injures Chappell Man
A 20-year-old Chappell man Dwaine F. Radke was hospitalized with head lacerations after a near head-on collision one mile east of Sidney on U S Highway 30. Radke pulled from a parking lot onto the highway headings west, colliding with eastbound pickup driven by James S. Taylor of Sidney. Taylor was uninjured. Radke was released several hours later. Passenger Burton Gunnn escaped injury. Damages were estimated at 350 dollars for Radke's car and 175 dollars for Taylor's pickup.
