Garden County’s First Vietnam Death Reported
Garden County reports its first casualty in the Vietnam War. Lt. Merlin Orr, Lewellen native, died in a helicopter accident after arriving in January. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Orr, reside in Lexington. He was married to Kathleen Brune of Oshkosh. his sister is Mrs. Rollie Wait of Gurley.

Mrs Geu Hurt In Intersection Mishap Near Sidney
Mrs. Geu sustained a fractured vertebra and was hospitalized at Memorial Hospital after an intersection collision southeast of Sidney. The wreck occurred at 5 15 PM on a county road intersection. Donald M Messing 28 rural Sidney drove a 1967 Ford pickup southbound and Mrs Geu drove a 1966 Ford westbound. The cars collided, ended in a southwest borrow pit, with an estimated 950 dollars damage to the pickup and total loss of the Geu vehicle. Mrs Geu wore a seat belt, aiding her safety. Messing reported uninjured.

Former Dalton Resident Ethel Woods Dies at 83
Ethel Minnie Kreader Woods, 83, of Loveland Colorado and a former Dalton resident, died Thursday at Memorial Hospital in Loveland. Funeral services set for 10 a.m. Saturday at Craig-Holechek Funeral Home with Rev. Richard A. Brown of Dalton Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial in Dalton Cemetery. She was born December 26, 1886 in Hooper Nebraska, married Dr. Emil Hudlund in 1913, widowed in 1927, remarried O. M. Woods in 1933, and later lived in Colorado. Surviving sister Alta M. Wilson of Sidney and nephews Donald Kreader of Dalton and C H Kreader of Tucson Arizona.
