Gurley High names Bartels and Rowan 1954 valedictorian and salutatorian
Gurley High School announced Wednesday night that Bonita Bartels and Jane Rowan are the 1954 valedictorian and salutatorian. Bartels plans to enroll at Midland College to become a church secretary, while Rowan will attend the University of Nebraska to pursue teaching. LeRoy Willoughby and Lois Meyer were named honor graduates for Potter High School 1984. Mothers Honored By Elks Lodge In Sidney
The Sidney Elks Lodge No. 1894 held a Mothers Day ceremony with Exalted Ruler Joy Knackstedt presiding. Over 125 attendees heard welcome remarks by Jack H. Lowe and saw orchids awarded to the oldest mother Maud Osborn youngest Bob Wolfe and most children Everett Shelly. Dr E S Sherred led group singing followed by a lodge dinner for all attendees.
