Sidney moves toward a long delayed 60 room hotel with bids opening June 17. Architect Edwin Kriz says plans approved by the hotel board, cost near 300000 dollars, site Ninth and Jackson, land bought for 50000. The two story redesign drops elevators, but includes banquet hall dining and cocktail lounge, financed by funds and mortgage. Cheyenne County reports 96.3 percent of its 1954 United States Savings Bond quota for the first four months, led by Series E and H bonds totaling about $93,000. Nebraska total sales reach $57,073,702.26, or 60 percent of the state's quota. Former Lodgepole Resident Reaches Centenarian Milestone
Hans P. Hansen a longtime Lodgepole resident celebrated his 100th birthday on May 13 at Eben Ezer Home in Brush Colorado. Born in Holland Denmark in 1854 he came to the United States in 1883 and lived in Fremont Nebraska before moving to Corado then Lodgepole. He later resided with his son Frank Hansen in Waterloo Iowa after a stay in Sidney and finally Ebenezer Home. His marriage to Marie Mylesen Oberon occurred October 1883.

A 1950 Oldsmobile owned by Mr and Mrs John Perino of Manchester New Hampshire was involved in a collision with a turning wheat truck on Highway 30 near Colton Friday afternoon. Both occupants were injured and the car was a total loss.

My and Mrs John Perino honeymooning from Manchester New Hampshire to the Reno air base were in an auto collision near Colton Friday afternoon. Mrs Perino 20 sustained a wrist fracture cuts bruises and shock. Her husband 22 suffered a knee fracture bruises and shock. They were taken to a Sidney hospital. The 1950 Oldsmobile struck a grain truck driven by Orville Kastens of Lodgepole as the car tried to pass. The car was a total loss. truck damage was light. The Perinos married the previous Saturday in Manchester and were on 15 day Air Force leave. They had just bought the car there. There is a possibility they will be moved to a service hospital after stabilization.

Wheat Hopes Brightened In Sidney Region
Thunder showers over the weekend brought moisture to Cheyenne County and the Panhandle, easing drought fears for winter wheat. Rain ranged from .70 inch in Sidney to 2.5 inches north of Potter, with Potter reporting .85 inch and Lodgepole receiving .68 and 1.08 inches. Hail damaged barley and oats in Sunny side near Lodgepole. Tornado warnings appeared Saturday night with no damage reported. The soaking rain is expected to push winter wheat into June in good shape as farmers noted muddy roads Monday morning.

Daily Vacation Bible Schools will run for two weeks in six Sidney churches under the Sidney Ministerial Association. Young Farmer Hurt In Tractor Accident
Stewart Brown Jr. is recuperating from severe leg lacerations after a tractor and four bottom plow mishap at his father's farm last Friday. He fell from the tractor while pulling the plow and narrowly avoided being crushed by the discs. If not for heavy field boots, he might have lost a foot. Alone, he remounted the tractor and drove to the farmhouse to summon help from his mother before being taken to a local physician.
