Fire Destroys Old Black Hills Barn and Nearby Home

A Monday night blaze in Sidney destroyed the old Black Hills barn and an adjacent residence near Tobin corner. Acor, living in the house, discovered the fire about 11:30 pm and alerted others. Despite rapid response, water reach was delayed and both structures burned, with only nearby buildings saved. The owner Lewis Wilson was insured. losses include Newt Foster’s hay and gear. Sidney Alumni elect officers for coming year

The Sidney High School Alumni met at Miss Chase's home on Wednesday and elected President Miss Chase Vice president Miss Hiett Secretary and treasurer Miss Yash burn. They planned a banquet for the graduating class on Monday evening May 28.

Treinan District 49 School Term Ends With Crowded Event

Last Friday in district 49 Boyer closed a successful term and hosted a program in a crowded venue. Patrons and visitors enjoyed an excellent program and left voting the evening very pleasant.

Irrigation Case Dismissed. Willard and Dugger Allowed Water

The Court House Rock Canal Co vs Willard and Dugger ended with the injunction dissolved. Defendants, landowners along a creek, used only water rising on their land, while the canal company claimed rights under appropriation. Judgment allows Dugger and Willard to continue irrigation. case to be appealed to the supreme court. Funeral Notices From Wood Ranch and Tobin Family

The Battershell funeral was held at the Wood ranch residence for Mrs. L V Battershell born Illinois May 15 1863 wife of D S Battershell died May 7 from heart failure leaving a husband and five children. Also the Tobin family mourns as their twin baby girl died Thursday after noon from bowel inflammation. The Tobins buried a prior set of twins and later welcomed another, sharing the community’s sympathy for their sorrow.

West Nebraska wins two prizes at Schuyler declamatory contest

At the Nebraska High School Declamatory contest in Schuyler last week, West Nebraska earned two prizes. Trene Elliot of Alliance took second in dramatic class and Ruth N Francis of Crawford won first in humorous class. Cattle and climate are not the only things West Nebraska to be proud of.
