Martin Bay Project Progress on Schedule at Lake McConaughy
Lincoln reports that development work at the southeast Johnson Lake area and Martin Bay near Lake McConaughy is on track. The Martin Bay contract worth 130000 to E Charles Robacker of Ogallala is about 25 percent done with six picnic shelters two change houses and a latrine in progress. Road grading is finished and asphalt laying is expected to start in June with completion before July 1. The 86000 Johnson Lake project targets a July 1 finish and is running ahead of schedule.

Raiders Sweep Cheyenne Meet In Record Golf Play
Sidney High Red Raiders dominated the Cheyenne Invitational golf event, winning by 45 strokes with a 634 team score that shattered three school records. Bill Christ set a new Sidney single score mark of 73, while the Raiders’ Christ, Wilson, Wilcox trio posted a 224 to break the three-man team record. Mike Wilson earned medalist honors for the meet.

Elementary Track Meet Is Saturday
An elementary school track meet for grades four through six is set for Saturday May 17 open to Sidney Sidney and St. Pat’s students. Girls preliminaries start at 9 a.m. and boys at 1 p.m. Finals at 7 p.m. Events include sprints up to 440 yards, high jump, broad jump, softball throw and two relays. Bill Rogers is meet director with Sidney High track mentors assisting.

District Track Tests Set for Bayard Alliance Meet
Nebraska Panhandle teams face district track tests this week with four Class A meets in Grand Island and nine each for Class C and D at Bayard and Alliance. Qualifiers advance to state in Kearney May 23 and 24, with field and relay qualifications outlined and times and distances specified. Cheyenne County teams compete in one of the district meets.

Baltazar Rides Winners in Major Stakes Wins
Chuck Baltazar, a top rider on Maryland and New Jersey circuits, triumphed in two $100,000 races in the past two years. In 1967 he captured the John B Campbell Memorial at Bowie aboard In Reality, and last year he won the Tassie Stakes in Chicago on Process Shot for Sonny Werblin.
