Higher Wheat Standards To Boost Market

Nebraska set new wheat standards effective June 1 for the 1964 harvest to raise quality, aid overseas sales, and bolster Nebraska's economy. Gary Whiteley notes the stricter rules remove more defective wheat, align with USDA guidelines, and need no major harvesting changes. The standards aim to curb trade barriers, protect CCC grain quality, cut export subsidies costs, and raise prices for farmers growing high grade wheat. Farmers urged to study the standards before harvest.
