I 80 Route Markings Move West
Survey markings for Interstate 80 in this region show the route being laid out by crews from Sidney and Kimball. Aerial work began May 1 from west of Chappell to the Wyoming line, with I 80 skirting Sidney then along the south range crest before dipping west of the town. Construction is not expected for four to five years, while bids have been issued east of here extending I 80 to Lincoln County. Interstate 80 is open from Lexington to Grand Island.

Three Burned As Pipe Hits Power Lines
Three State road department workers escaping serious injury Friday after irrigation pipe they were moving touched a power line near Potter. All three received burns on feet and hands but the main charge grounded there. they were taken to Memorial Hospital by the Nebraska Safety Patrol, held for observation, and released. Two Weekend Automobile Wrecks Reported in Area Two
Trooper Felix Koenig of the Nebraska Safety Patrol reported two weekend wrecks in Area Two. First, at 11:50 a.m. Friday on Highway 30 east of Potter, a semi driven by Adolph Cappel crossed paths with a 1960 Chevrolet pickup driven by John Bauer, causing minor semi damage and $500 to the pickup. Bauer received medical treatment for a head bump but no hospitalization. Second, at 2:15 p.m. Sunday east of Sidney, a westbound 1950 Buick driven by Herbert Richard and a eastbound 1959 Chevrolet driven by James McGeehan collided as Richard turned into the Enco station drive, with no injuries and $300 total damage split between the two vehicles.
