Gas Unit Accord Is Expected in West Sidney Field
The Ohio Oil Co disclosed favorable landowner response to a new gas pooling plan in West Sidney. It aims for orderly development this year if ratified, pooling about 640 acres into unitized areas with gas only. Oil spacing would follow established patterns if oil is found. About seventy landowners attended a Tuesday meeting and contracts will be drawn up, with outreach in ten to fourteen days. A future gasoline extraction plant is considered if reserves justify it, and funds to drill more wells may be requested at Findlay next month. Gas wells currently number several in the nine mile field.

Crop Outlook Improves After Moisture and Warm Spell
Western Nebraska crops show improved prospects as last week’s moisture and rising temperatures aid germination and winter wheat. Wheat on fallow land advances well while spring-planted wheat lags. corn planting may start sooner with higher temps. Oats and barley improve though slowed by cold, hay and pasture prospects brighten with warmth to come. Some mosaic disease noted, wind damage caused replanting, and beets suffer from recent cold. Calves and pastures show stress but should rebound with warm days.
