Farm Index In Decline Amid April Price Drops
The Nebraska farm index fell one point in April due to lower butterfat wholesale milk and chicken prices, marking 321 percent of the 1910-14 base but still eight points above a year ago. U S index rose two points to 290 percent. Butterfat dropped to 71 cents a pound, wholesale milk to 4.60 per cwt, chickens to 20.1 cents a pound. Eggs steady at 27.3 cents a dozen. Wheat down two cents to 2.22 per bushel. corn up six cents to 1.60. oats and rye down two cents. Hogs at 16.50 per cwt, cattle 30, calves 31.80, lambs 26.80, sheep 12.80, milk cows 260 per head. Peas steady at 1.90 per bushel, dry beans 7.20 cwt, soybeans 2.70, alfalfa seed down 1 per bushel, sweet clover off 10 cents, red clover down 50 cents.

Reverend John Sheaff Dies of Heart Attack in Lincoln
The Rev John J Sheaff longtime Nebraska Methodist leader died of a heart attack in Lincoln last Thursday while en route to speak at an Old Timers Club meeting. Funeral services were held at St Pauls Methodist Church with Dr Everett A Sabin and Dr Lloyd E Watt officiating. Interment followed at Amberger's Mortuary direction. Born in England in 1888 he came to the U S in 1920 and served at Epworth Church in Lincoln from 1926 to 1934 before assignments in Sidney Lexington and then back to Lincoln. He held leadership roles in the Methodist Ministers Association and other civic groups including Goodwill Industries in 1951.

A Greyhound bus and a Sidney car collided at about 12 15 Monday morning on U S Highway 30 8 a half mile east of Sidney Injuries were minor but damage was extensive with about 700 to the car and 200 to the bus The Studebaker sedan driven by Dale E Clark 26 Sidney and the 1947 GMC Greyhound bus driven by Meryl T Lewison 33 Cheyenne were eastbound the bus rear ended the car sending it into a borrow pit about 100 feet away.
