Graduation exercises for forty eight Sidney high school seniors will be held in the senior high school auditorium next Tuesday evening, May 10. Baccalaureate services will be held at the high school Sunday evening, May 8. Scholastic champions are Gordon Daniels and Beth Travis. Daniels is first boy to win valedictory honors in several years. Miss Travis is salutatorian. Charles Miller, board member in Albin Township, will give the principal commencement address. Rev. Peter E. Spehr will deliver the baccalaureate sermon.

Lew Williams, manager of the Fox Theatre, married Winifred Williams of Denver in Sterling on Tuesday. Williams said only a few close friends knew of the plans. They returned to Sidney and will occupy an apartment at Omar Court. Williams has managed the Fox since last fall, previously working in La Junta and Denver.

Precautions Urged As Typhoid Shows Lodge Pole Warning
County physician R H Roche urged Lodge Pole residents to boil drinking water after Ilene Humphrey 16 was hospitalized with typhoid fever. Water Survey Here Is Assured Reed Says
Sidney will be the headquarters for a water survey in the Lodge Pole valley this summer. Earle G. Reed, agricultural supervisor for the Union Pacific, told the Lions club that letters from Senator Norris and Congressman Coffee confirm a Bureau of Agricultural Engineering expert will come to inspect. The survey aims to judge production promise to justify a government lending program for wells and equipment. High School Student Injured In Accident
Four Sidney high school students were in an automobile crash Wednesday but only senior Maxine McDonald was injured. The car driven by Wayne Elsen overturned after he stopped abruptly to avoid another vehicle, causing the wheels to cramp and the car to turn on its side. Other riders Mickey Lynch and Wallace Brown were unharmed.

Sterling Man Fatally Hurt In Sterling Street Accident
Ortis Cook, 20, a well known Sterling Colorado man and amateur boxer who had visited Sidney, was fatally injured last Saturday when he slipped and fell beneath the wheels of an approaching car on Sterling street. He apparently lost his footing while running across the street and fell headlong into the path of the vehicle.

Seattle Man Is Fined For Reckless Driving
Philip E. Moore of 719 2nd Avenue Seattle was fined ten dollars plus costs totaling 13.80 by County Judge Robert A. Barlow after pleading guilty to reckless driving. He was pulled over by state patrolmen around noon for speeds of 72 mph through Sunol and 72 to 76 mph on a open highway while en route to Grand Island.
