Alliance May Erect New City Auditorium If Petitions Approved

Morrill Sheriff Denies Loss Of Seized Whisky From Vault
Sheriff A W Webb of Bridgeport denied reports that hijackers stole liquor seized in Mor rill county and stored in a basement at the bridgeport courthouse. He said a robbery attempt two weeks ago failed after attackers were frightened away. Over $1000 worth of whisky, some bent, was stored there and the window was later cemented up.

Pioneer Lady Donates Land for Kimball Park
Mrs Ida Forsling of Kimball, Nebraska, a pioneer resident, donates 414 acres near Kimball to the American Legion post for a park in memory of her husband Alfred Forsling who died in 1932. A swimming pool is planned and park improvements are underway. The Forslings arrived in 1886 and tree planting in the park honors his memory with a stone entrance bearing their names. Mrs Forsling is mother of Elmer T. Forsling, director at Scottsbluff.

The Walther leagues gather in Sidney on Sunday May 5 for a full day of services. Divine services start at 10 30 a m with St Pauls choir led by Prof Albert Mueller and Miss Eulalia Brohn piano. Rev Freiertag delivers the sermon. Seventeen congregations join the event with evening entertainment at 7 30 p m hosted by St Pauls Walther league. Outdoor activities follow a 3 30 p m program. Streamlined Trains Thru Here Soon on UP Reg Schedule
Union Pacific officials say the streamlined Speedster M-10001 will run between Chicago and Portland on a 40 hour schedule in late May or early June. The seven car train will make six round trips monthly with departures every five days from Portland and Chicago. The train set world speed records on a west to east trial last October and reached 120 mph top speed averaging 84 mph over 508 miles. Equipment includes power car mail coach dining lounge three Pullmans and a coach buffet. Enhancements since its premier run include new trucks to reduce sway and a 1200 hp 16 cylinder motor, claimed largest single power plant in passenger service.
