Missouri youth seeks hearing in Nebraska larceny case
Robert Green, of Bowling Green Missouri, faced Cheyenne County Judge C W Smith on arraignment for grand larceny after allegedly stealing 150 dollars from Mr and Mrs Howard Pohlman at their home. He refused extradition, bond set at 500 dollars, and a preliminary hearing was requested for Saturday.

Guard Has Initial Outdoors Training
Members of Co. K Nebraska National Guard in Sidney staged the first of four spring drills at Point of Rocks. About 70 men trained from 12 30 p.m. to 10 p.m. with day and night patrol activity overseen by Lt. Fred Peters after infantry training at Ft. Benning. The next drill is set for this Sunday with two of the remaining sessions focusing on individual weapons firing at the Sioux Ordnance Depot range.

1957 Wheat Show Heads East to York Nebraska

Insuranceman Turns Hunter With Potent Bow
Wayne Rapp, a Sidney insurance man, shot and killed a chicken hawk at the Cheyenne County Archery Range one half mile from Sidney. He used a 45 pound bow with a 28 inch arrow, firing at the circling bird as it began to leave the ground. After initial plans to stuff the hawk, he discarded the idea and dumped the remains in a garbage can.

Reba Kinne a 1955 Sidney High School graduate and University of Nebraska Teachers College sophomore is the fourth candidate for Miss Fort Sidney honors. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Kinne she is among six 1957 Cornhusker Beauty Queens and serves as Honorary Commandant of the Pershing Rifles. A state Honored Queen of Job's Daughters she plays clarinet in the University Symphony Band and will perform as pianist. Robert Roy Omel 22 of Lodgepole died in Cheyenne County Memorial Hospital after years with diabetes and a five day coma. Peetz Logan county farmers have begun spraying wheat fields to control the pale western cut worm. Heavy infestations found in the eastern part of the county near Willard Merino and Padroni. Worms about half an inch long and growing rapidly. pests feed near the surface and are detectable by probing with a stick.
Patriarchs Militant Hold Colorful Rites At Sidney Meeting
In Sidney 130 Chevaliers and Ladies from Patriarchs Militant I C C F gathered for a full day of events. A parade from the I O C F hall to the city auditorium preceded worship services and a church banquet. Dignitaries from Nebraska Colorado and Wyoming attended as five candidates received the Patriarchs Militant degree and Alma Ruth Burke of Sidney received the Decoration of Chivalry in a public ceremony led by Brig Gen Roy Bristol.
