Youthful Highwaymen Hold Up Filling Station
Everett Davis and Terry Traxler, both of Butler Indiana, held up a Standard Oil filling station at Lodge Pole early Tuesday. They robbed the attendant Dale Huffaker at gunpoint, tied him, and fled in an Essex coupe. Recovered cash and checks totaled 3315 dollars. They were captured near Ogallala, pled guilty, and sentenced to three to seven years in the Lincoln reformatory by Judge Nisley.

District Court Opens for March Term Under Judge Nisley
District court for the 13th judicial district convened Monday morning with Judge I J Nisley presiding. The docket listed 85 cases. first case, state of Nebraska vs Walter Mitchell, charged with possession and sale of liquor, resulted in a not guilty verdict after hours of deliberation. Civil matters were few. Ruth Ernest vs Ben Jorgenson and Dave Robertson vs Dan Robertson were settled out of court during the session.

Former Pioneer Resident Of Sidney Dies At Cheyenne
Joseph Kingham, a pioneer resident of Sidney in the early eighties, died at his Cheyenne home Tuesday morning after months of illness. He served as deputy postmaster under Jack Brennen in Sidney and later in Cheyenne, where he led the Kingham Tire and Repair company for 15 years. His death was due to heart trouble.

Sterling and Sidney Rifle Clubs Set Indoor Meet
The Sterling Rifle Club issues a challenge to Sidney Rifle Club for an indoor shoot at Sterling. Sidney president Heinie Bauman accepts and says the Sidney team will compete Thursday evening, April 5 at 7:00 p.m. The Sterling range is in the merchants building at the Logan county fair grounds. Sidney chief range officer Douglas Boyd seeks the ten best riflemen for the meet with qualification shooting taking place in the basement under Hepner clothing store. The range is 50 feet with five shots each in standing kneeling sitting and prone positions, all slow fire. There is effort to secure the Cheyenne county merchants building for a 75-foot practice range. Last Sunday Sidney members shot on John Treinen farm outdoor range and Treinen's range indoors. Treinen was top on outdoor, Melvin Sweet led indoor.

Army Cut Worm Emerges in West Nebraska Counties
County Agent L. D. Willey reports the army cut worm reappearing in Cheyenne and Trognitz precincts, defoliating winter and spring crops. The worm hatches in fall, travels as a ground‑level swarm, and damages winter wheat, oats, barley, alfalfa, and clover. A control mix of bran, salt, Paris green or arsenic, and molasses is advised, plowed ahead of the advancing line.

Veteran Civil War veteran Jason Sparks dies at 82 in Cheyenne county
Jason C Sparks longtime Huntsman resident and Civil War veteran dies at his home after a brief illness. Born 1845 in Indiana he enlisted March 31 1864 in Company E 11th Iowa Infantry serving to the war's end. He directed farm work from his couch in advanced age and wrote sharp political economy articles read by The Telegraph. His wife supported his campaign of letters and essays until his death on March 27 at 5 20 am.

Wind Storm Sweeps West Counties Sunday
Reports across western Nebraska describe a Sunday wind and dust storm that damaged small buildings, telephone lines, and haystacks while shutting visibility. A small barn owned by Joe Green one and a half miles east of the city along Lodge Pole creek was destroyed by fire Wednesday night. Green said in the city Thursday he has evidence suggesting malicious persons caused the fire.

Funeral for John Connelly in Cheyenne County
John Connelly, longtime Cheyenne county resident, died Sunday from pneumonia following influenza. Funeral services were held Tuesday at St Patrick's Catholic Church with Rev Anton Link officiating. Burial followed at the Catholic cemetery. Pallbearers included W Mollette, William Bundy, Henry Meyers, Aaron Boyes, Arthur McMillen, and Henry Stoneberg. Survived by widow, three sons, four daughters. Family to remain on farm west of here near Peetz and Sidney.

Young Woman Sentenced for Stealing and Escape Attempt
Sheriff and Mrs. Nelson escorted two Indiana youths and Evelyn Ramey to Lincoln reformatory. Traxler and Davis receive three to seven years for holdup of an attendant and a Standard Oil station, while Evelyn Ramey, 22, gets one year for an escape attempt with a coat from a Sidney store. Reburial of Michael J. Sanders in Sidney Nebraska
The remains of Michael J. Sanders who died in December 1924 at Omaha were moved to Sidney this week. The body, previously buried in Holy Sepulcher cemetery, was taken by train to Sidney and placed in the Catholic cemetery beside his wife Mrs. Sanders who died March 8. A brief service was led by Rev. Anton Link with only immediate family present.
