The Telegraph congratulates Sidney citizens on the approval of the sewer project at the special election last Tuesday. A large majority supported bonds, signaling progress and public spirit, with trustees urged to begin construction promptly to advance the city before summer.
Mrs St Johns lectures at the Methodist church last Sunday drew a large audience and earned high praise. She has a wide reputation as a lecturer and is associated with the W C T U work.
James R. Vernon of Aurora traveled to Sidney on Monday for an unnoted purpose, with no additional details provided about the visit or events.
A Busy week with visitors from Ickes and Bronson precinct mainly in Sidney. Local residents trip to Omaha and Lodgepole shops noted. Government stock inspector Dr Ellis returns from Crook Colorado. Belle M Stoutenborough Club to meet April 6 at Mrs Greenlee’s. Mrs Fuller hosts Kensington with a five course supper on March 20.
Frank Hazlitt completed final proof on his homestead before County Judge Gapen on Thursday March 28 with witnesses N. P. Rasmussen and Edward Nelson.
Mrs. W. P. Miles entertained the T. N. Club on Wednesday afternoon with an elaborate and delightful luncheon. All members were present and enjoyed a fine time.
Mrs. Ellis sold her interests in St Andrews hospital to Misses Robertson and Hinmann, nurses from Cheyenne, and has moved to Omaha to enter Methodist Hospital as a nurse. A. S. Hardy of Sidney Electric Service Co traded his Omaha residence for the Hinman house, a modern southwest city home built a year ago.
Margaret Beebe marked her fifth birthday with a party for friends last Monday. She departed Tuesday to spend an extended visit with relatives in Chicago, traveling with Elder Defibaugh on a trip home to Pennsylvania after visiting Hugh Moore.
Mrs W H Shatto had a serious illness from phenom en ia after the birth of a son on February 27 at the Borgquist ranch. She is now much improved.
Weather data shows March snowfall in Cheyenne County at 22 inches. The winter total, including March, reaches 56.25 inches.
The Belle M. Stoutenborough Club met at Mrs. W. E. Swatzlander’s home for a profitable Saturday gathering. Mrs. C C Callahan led table talk on Self-Control. Devoe discussed Joseph and His Descendants with literary emphasis. Miss Anna McFadden spoke on Art in the Home with a sweep from antiquity to modern decor emphasizing refinement and rest. Hazel King sang.
Fred Sudman, a pioneer of Western Nebraska, died Monday at his Chappell home after twenty six years in business there. He was a prominent Mason and well known to Sidney residents. Mrs Banta awaits a long visit from daughter Mrs E C Davis.
U G Applegate becomes traveling engineer in the 4th district replacing Schwager who moves to other duties. U M Kress, water softener inspector, starts the unit in Sidney. Roy C Ball joins Round House, overseeing nights water softener. Hatcher and Schlesselman exit April 1 for farm work. Telegraph office moves to new quarters. dispatchers arrive next Tuesday. Robert Wallick becomes Burling ton operator. Traffic increases as snow clears.
On Thursday March 28 1912 Charles J Smitten and Sadie McNulty both of Denver appear in a license notice with details of their partnership and residence.
Esne Green, who had been visiting his uncle and aunt Mr and Mrs Fred Griffith, has returned to his South Omaha home much improved in health. He likes this country and may return.
Dr and Mrs L G Simon returned Saturday from a pleasant outing in California.
The North Platte Valley teachers and local supporters fund a Monday evening concert at Sidney High School featuring Charlotte Cecil Cooley a Peru Normal instructor and noted soloist. Accompanist Mildred Hanna Wilsonville will donate services, with gypsy and Japanese costume numbers and readings. The program includes The Holy City with lantern slides and readings from Yale Yarns.
The History Club met Friday at the High School Assembly. Viola Chambers Ethel Wright and Gwendolyn Stokes won games. A stereopticon showed ancient and oriental slides. The next meeting will be Saturday at Mr Johnsons home where a prize will be awarded to the top scorer.
