Oil Drilling Progress in Cheyenne County 1954 Outlook
In five years since oil was found near Gurley Cheyenne County drillers have punched nearly twenty million feet of holes equaling 375 miles and drilled 440 wells since May 1949. About 197 oil producers and 35 gas wells have been found with an average of about 90 wells per year. The central Range 50 West region contains most production with 98 oil producers and 19 commercial gas wells. eastern Range 47 West is largely shut out. West edge fields include South Potter with 12 producers. West Sidney Gas Pool development is slated for late 1954. Three companies lead early 1954 development Ohio Oil Co. and Chicago Corp. in Doran Farms and Fleming Pools, and Shell Oil Co. in South Potter, with more wildcatting expected in the second half of the year.

Safeway Plans New 1955 Sidney Store
