Dedication of St Pauls Lutheran Church Draws 600

Six hundred attended the dedication services Sunday at the remodeled St. Pauls Lutheran Church 12 miles northeast of Potter. Visitors came from Ogallala and Cheyenne. Clergy included Rev. G. H. Boenke Kimball Rev. O. W. Juengel Litchfield Neb Rev. Art Wegener Chappell president of the Southern Nebraska District Missouri Synod. The 1813 building was remodeled with a massive tower, new brick appearance, seating 200. Members did most remodeling, a credit to the congregation.

SHS Music Contest Tonight At Sidney High Auditorium

Sidney High School hosts preliminary music contest tonight at 7 30 featuring instrumentalists and the sax quartet, horn and trumpet groups, and soloists under Director Dean Killion. Vocal entries compete next Tuesday as students use activity tickets for admission.

Two Men Sought In Burglary Of Station

An alarm went statewide for the capture of two men believed to have burglarized the Juelf Conoco Station in Potter Saturday and tied to a Denver robbery the same day. Ages 40 and 28, they drive a 1951 maroon Dodge with stolen Michigan plates. Loss ~14 dollars, candy and gum. Sheriff Schulz and Deputy Taylor head the case.

New Drilling Location Tests Nebraska's Sandhills Region

The Ohio Oil Co moves a drilling rig to McPherson County Nebraska for a No 1 D T Doyle wildcat test after seismic work. Location lies 330 feet from the north line and 2310 feet from the east line in Section 21 18 32. Previous test near Lexington and Kearney, dry hole at No 1 Madhlan in Hooker County. Leasing activity expected to ease in central Nebraska as tests focus on structural information.

Rev Dr H Ralph Bixel Installed at Sidney First Christian

Installation ceremonies for the Rev Dr H Ralph Bixel pastor of the First Christian Church in Sidney will be Wednesday with a 6 30 p m dinner for members. Earl Bledsoe will be toastmaster. Campbell and L A Pearson of the church board will serve as charge of the installation. Dr Bixel came from Trinidad Colorado where he served four years and holds a degree from Burtonall College in Pennsylvania.

Tucker Nabbed After Short Freedom From Boys School

Raymond Tucker, 16, escapee from the Boys Training School at Kearney, was arrested in Dunning Nebraska about 6:30 pm Thursday while driving a stolen car. He had been convicted of writing bad checks and sent to Kearney after previous offenses. Authorities note he appears older than his years and has a lengthy criminal history.

Charges Filed In Car Wreck Near Sioux Depot Road

Two men faced Cheyenne County court on Monday on charges from a two car collision near Highway 30 and the Sioux Ordnance Depot road. Don Wyett, 68, SOD, was charged with driving while intoxicated leaving the scene and improper meeting and passing. fined 102 dollars plus costs and 30 day license suspension. Robert Wyett was fined 10 dollars and costs on an intoxication count. A 19 Closer sedan driven east by Burl Headley SOD was sideswiped by Wyett’s 1942 Plymouth. damages estimated at 50 dollars to the Plymouth and 100 to the Frazer. No injuries were reported. That night John B. Ross of Cheyenne was arrested for DWI. fined 100 dollars and costs with a 30 day license suspension.

Paroled Car Thieves Admit Guilt in Break-In Spree

Two Sidney men, Jack L. Wheeland and Marvin J. Ballard, pleaded guilty to entering and robbing cars in March. Judge John Kuns gave probation after they admitted drinking that night and having no reason for the spree. Two Sterling men, ages 40 and 27, were detained Monday on suspicion of raping two Sidney girls about 12. Authorities withheld names pending further evidence to justify charges. Fair Board Meeting in Lexington Monday

Cheyenne County Fair Board members and county agents will represent the county at an area wide meeting in Lexington Monday night. Dining Room Added To Silver Dollar Open This Week

A new dining room has been added to the facilities of the Silver Dollar Bar and Lounge and is now open for business.
