Sues to Test U. S. Day Law
New York dated March 17 reports a stockholders suit in federal court led by Joseph E. Evard against Evards Brewery seeking an order to prevent suspending manufacturing May 1 and sales July 1 under the wartime prohibition act. The suit claims the emergency clause is unconstitutional post armistice since no emergency justified restricting grain, cereals, fruits or other goods for beer or wine, and asks preservation of normal peace conditions.
