Henry Kernowicz 64 a Chappell area farmhand stole a patrol car from a service station. He ran out of gas two miles west and nine north of Chappell and used the radio to report his situation. Troopers recovered him in a confused state and no charges were filed. He will be turned over to Mental Review Board.

About 10 or 12 entrants are expected for the Fort Sidney Days Queen Pageant with a March 25 deadline, pageant chairman Barney Smith says. The May 1 event at Sidney Junior High School Auditorium features master of ceremonies Keith Williams and soloist Duane Nichols. Judges will select a Queen and two attendants after talent and beauty performances. the winner gets a $1,000 Sidney Business Institute scholarship, a trophy, and an expense paid trip to the Miss Nebraska contest in York June 17-20. A second scholarship may be offered pending confirmation.

Fort Sidney Days events include a talent pageant May 1 at the Junior High Auditorium to crown a queen and attendants. Floyd Wesley Brothers 57 died Friday evening at his farm home near Dix. Born March 19 1907 on his parents’ homestead north of Dix he lived there his entire life. He married Hilda Pieron at Sidney November 21 1926 who died in 1957. He later married Thelma Halli on June 8 1964 in Laramie Wyoming. Memorial Rest Home in Sidney is designated as the memorial. Gehrig and Son Funeral Home handled arrangements.
