Clarke-McNary Tree Supply Runs Short
Extension Forester Earl G. Maxwell of the University of Nebraska reports the Clarke-McNary tree stock is nearly exhausted for farms and ranches. Over 1,100,000 trees will be distributed by the Agricultural Extension Service this year, with demand outpacing supply. Only a few Yellow Pine remain as nurseries face war year cutbacks and labor shortages. Shipment to farmers likely begins April 1 from the Halley Nebraska National Forest for evergreens and a Fremont nursery for broadleaf varieties.
