Plant Readied For New Unit At Sidney Power Plant
Removal of old steam generating units has begun to make room for a new Diesel unit expected to arrive soon. Utility manager Vern Livingston cites outmoded equipment and a planned roof raise at the north end. On March 4 Sidney's plant delivered 20 400 kw, a heaviest load day, with a peak of 1 280 kw. Special engineer Robert Fulton estimates Sidney saved 25 000 by purchasing equipment a year and a half ago.

After two months of negotiations between The Chrysler Corporation and Lee Maddox, The Maddox Motor Company won a direct dealership contract for sales and service of Chrysler and Plymouth autos. Quick justice for McCleary in Lodgepole burglary
Ross McCleary, 27, was caught looting a filling station at Lodgepole. County Attorney Lawrence M. Clinton charged him with burglary and District Judge James L. Tewell sentenced him to two years in the men's reformatory at Lincoln, all within three days of the arrest.

Contractor Tillotson Killed in Denver Area Crash
J H Tillotson, 45, contractor who built Lodgepole Farmers Elevator and held the Potter Co op elevator job, died in a motor vehicle crash near Denver Sunday night. Reports say his car left the road or was in a head on collision while driving from St Francis Kansas to Denver. he faced about 14 grain elevator projects across Nebraska Colorado and Kansas. His Lodgepole headquarters and Denver main office connected his contracting work. Potter Co op awarded him a $100 000 elevator project to be completed by harvest.

Mayor proposes three member local airport commission

Theft Suspect Wrecks Auto
A 28 year old dishwasher from a Sidney cafe was arrested after allegedly stealing a car, driving to Chappell, and wrecking it in a ditch. John Vaill of Joplin, Missouri, ended up in jail as authorities review charges and investigate additional thefts from Wall Cruise’s home where Vaill lodged. The sheriff notes Vaill recently began work at a local cafe and suggests alcohol problems contributed to the incident.

47 Farm Income Is Ahead Of Last Year
The agriculture department reported Saturday that farm income in the first two and a half months of this year has been about 25 percent above the same period last year. For 1947 the department expects prices received and total cash receipts to average about 1946 levels, though production expenses rose and net income may dip slightly.
