Sidney hospital project seen ready for bids in July

Sidney progress toward a Community Hospital project received council approval to be part of the 1952 53 program. If Congress approves Hill Burton funding in the 53 54 budget starting July 1, bids could be called the first week of July. Local officials praised Pangborn and Steward for their planning and cooperation. A Thursday meeting with area doctors and Architect Frank McNett will finalize technical phases and specifications as the project advances toward top priority federal support.

Mr. Steward said the green light will allow McNett to finalize plans and specs for board review. They aim for a construction bid call by early July, depending on many details. He added they have bypassed much red tape and are out of the woods.

Defense bond reports show Cheyenne County sales of 90143.75 with Panhandle rivals Box Butte and Scotts Bluff only higher. Four concerts have been contracted for the 1953-54 Sidney Civic Music Series. The lineup includes the American Piano Trio, Boris Goldovsky, Roberts and Walker, and Clara May Turner. Three Doctors Get Physicals In Denver

Sidney faces possible strain as three local doctors Hull Cook B H Grimm and C B Dorwart completed army physicals in Denver this month. All reportedly passed and the area would be in trouble if called. The town with six doctors serves about twenty thousand people far above the recommended ratio of one doctor per eight hundred.
