City Liquor Policy Set By Council

The City Council approved a written liquor control policy guiding future license applications, referencing the State Liquor Commission. It sets population based limits: one package store per thousand population, five stores at Sidney's 1950 population, five beer taverns with no new ones until 5,501, and one bar license per 2000 people up to three. The plan anticipates appeals and an unresolved population trigger, with existing ordinance on licenses to govern beer on and off sale and liquor with no off-sale for bars. Protests were heard, including a dealer claiming no Class C licenses will be issued under the current ordinance.
