Anton H Meick 61 a 56 year Cheyenne County resident died Saturday at Memorial Hospital after nine days as patient in poor health. Funeral rites set for 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at St Patrick's Church with Very Rev Vincent J Pelster officiating. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Rosary at 7:30 p.m. tonight at Gehrig Son Funeral Home. One Hurt In Auto Wreck
One person was injured in a rear end collision at 12:50 a.m. Sunday at 13th and Illinois. Sandra Glaubitz, driving a 1962 Buick, was stopped for a red light when struck from behind by Lynn Wederski in a 1950 Buick. Glaubitz was taken to Memorial Hospital for a whiplash neck injury. Glaubitz’s car suffered about 350 dollars in damage. Wederski’s car was a total loss and she was charged with reckless driving.

State distributes 2.6 million in school funds to western districts

Gary Boye of Sidney High School won the 28th annual American Legion State Oratorical Contest at Norfolk defeating 14 other district reps. He advances to the regional in Sidney March 29 with four state winners from Nebraska Colorado Wyoming and New Mexico. He earned a $100 bond for speaking on the Constitution televised. runners up were Robert Bucholz Omaha Westside and Linda Schachta Elba with $75 and others tied for fourth. His parents the Reverend Clarence Boye and Mrs Boye and his brother Larry accompanied him. they planned to return to Sidney after taking Larry to St Johns Seminary in Kansas.
