Rehearsals finalize for the annual Stars of Tomorrow show sponsored by the Sidney Kiwanis Club. About 36 youths from Cheyenne County and Kiwanis members polish acts for a Sunday March 14 performance at 2 p.m. in Sidney Junior High School auditorium. Admission is 1 for adults and 50 cents for students. Proceeds fund Kiwanis youth activities. grand prize 200 scholarship to Business Institute of Sidney, plus 50 savings bond, 25 bonds and 10 cash awards among 18 acts. Special ninth grade band will perform under Ron Reidler while judges decide.

The measure proposes a 3 percent tax raising about 50 million dollars annually, with exemptions for feed seed fertilizer and products already taxed. An amendment adding lodging taxes via LB668 was approved at Gerdes’ request and LB562 advances would set a constitutional companion if needed. Last month LB166 was killed.

Flat tires blamed for trio of Nebraska crashes
Nebraska Safety Patrol investigated three one car accidents this week all blamed on flat tires. A 1963 Ford crashed near Gurley injuring none seriously. Marvin C. Harrison 26 of Potter injured nose and eye cut after tire deflated on the way to the Egging Co plant. Sylvia Runion 19 of unspecified location suffered a severe head laceration after a tire blew on State Highway 19 eight miles south of Sidney. Bertha Connors 60 of Alpena Mich sustained $150 damage when a right rear tire blew on Highway 30 near Sidney with no injuries.

Two Break-Ins At Dalton Checked
Two Dalton business houses were broken into during the night. At the Mobile Station thieves broke a restroom window and dragged through to steal two tires and $50. Martin's Tavern saw burglars entry only to the warehouse, taking several cases of beer. Sheriff W. W. Schulz notes this is the sixth break at the service station.
