Sunol Pool Best County Oil Field In Cheyenne County 1958

Oil production in Cheyenne County leads Nebraska fields in 1958 with the Cook Field near Sunol producing 493 761 barrels for a cumulative 2 154 025. Dorman Field near Sidney remains the largest with 2 995 387 barrels since 1950. Kimball Banner and Cheyenne counties show high drilling activity. 1958 daily output averaged 55 810 barrels for about 167 000 in value.

Talent Show Tickets On Sale For Kiwanis Event

Monday marks the start of ticket sales for the Kiwanis Stars of Tomorrow show at the Junior High School auditorium on April 24. The Sidney Band assists Kiwanis in fundraising for their Portland Rose Festival trip, with proceeds supporting needy children and the band. Adult tickets are $1, and 50 cent children’s tickets will be available at the door.

Leonard Skarka 39 son of Mr and Mrs J F Skarka of Potter died yesterday afternoon in a Denver hospital after a three week stay Funeral services set for Monday at 2 pm from the Craig Mortuary with military graveside rites at Greenwood Cemetery He was born January 25 1920 in Peter and lived there until joining the US Army in 1941 Serving in the Aleutians and Europe he married Faye Wilcox December 24 1954 at Sterling They resided at 1180 South Train Denver Survivors include brothers Clif Sidney Harvard and Harold and sister Mrs W K Barton Arnold preceded him in death in 1957

Adams Elected 59 VEW Commander

Loyde Adams a 40 year old pharmacist was elected commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 610 at the 1959 officer election. Adams will succeed Wiedman who was chosen as a two year trustee. Juveniles Put on One-Year Probation After Delinquency

Parents of two 17 year old youths appeared before County Judge Co W Smith on delinquency charges. Each youth was found guilty and placed on probation for one year under Police Chief Sol Willis supervision for a series of delinquency acts.

Fireman responded to a trash blaze at 12th and Rose on Thursday evening. No damage was reported. This marks six fire calls this year with two in January, one in February, and three in this month.

First Aid Training In Cheyenne County Nears Full Instructors

After ten months of work George Seelmeyer and King Ly barger prepare to deploy a full cadre of First Aid instructors. About 30 men will complete instructor training next week led by George Gates with Amer ican Red Cross, Sixty or more will join Red Cross led courses across the area including Sioux Ordnance Depot and Sidney Fire Department Rescue Squad. The program opens to extension club women and offers ten hour standard courses five two hour sessions plus advanced sixteen hour and a fifteen hour instructor track.

Men's Chorus Officers And Committees Named

Cheyenne Lumber Hires Manager Bud Myhr from Colorado

Bud Myhr formerly of Oshkosh and Estes Park Colorado was named manager of the Cheyenne County Lumber Company in Sidney. He previously managed Sterling Lumber and Investment in Estes Park after five years at Oshkosh. A Catholic, he and his wife and four children will move after the current school term.
