Worthless Bonds Are Headache To State
The attorney general directed Friday by the legislative council to devise a method for disposing of 192000 dollars of bonds issued by the defunct Northport Irrigation district in Garden county. Foreclosed taxes leave the county with an 180000 dollar judgment, but sale is blocked because the supreme court ruled the bonds are a lien on the property, preventing reentry of the land onto the tax rolls.
