Wheat Thefts Suspects Sentenced In Fort Morgan Area
Four residents of De Crook Cobb area received prison terms for grand larceny in the wheat thefts. Sheriff W. W. War Hero To Tell Necessity Of Curbing Price Inflation

Best Speller Will Be Named on Saturday
Cheyenne County will crown its champion speller Saturday in the annual contest for third to eighth graders at the Junior High School. Superintendent Edith Oldershaw said the day will end with the seventh and eighth grade oral test at 2:45 p m. The schedule starts with written rounds at 9 a m followed by oral tests at 1:15 for third and fourth grades, 2:00 for fifth and sixth, and 2:45 for seventh and eighth.

Former Resident of City Dies at Lincoln
LaVern Wolf, a former city resident and relative of Sidney Wolf, died at Lincoln on Wednesday night. The cause was not given. Wolf had served in the navy about one year and previously worked at The Lune Drug Company in Sidney for several months. He was cousin to Clifford Wolf of Bidney and Jack Wolf of Ogalalla.

Sgt Bayne Sidney native dies in automobile accident
Sgt Ralph Bayne, 24, once of Sidney, serving in the U S Army Air Force in Tokyo, was killed recently in an automobile accident. Word was received by his aunts Mrs Fred Beyer and Mrs Iva Beyer. He was the son of Mrs His Poole of Emmett Idaho and formerly Mrs Paul Bayne of Sidney.

Fred Geis 90 Dies at Dalton Nebraska Pioneer Passes
Fred Geis Sr. a long time Dalton resident and one of Cheyenne County’s oldest citizens died at his home after an eight month illness. Born in Germany he came to the U S in 1880 and moved west seeking cattle and farming opportunities. He homesteaded northwest of Sidney and later settled in Greenwood area before retiring to Dalton. He was 90 and survived by his wife 87 two children and one grandchild. Funeral services were held at the Dalton Lutheran Church with interment in Sidney Greenwood cemetery.

Potato Show Set for March at Scottsbluff Air Base
One of the world’s premier potato growing areas will stage a full day event on March 20 at Scottsbluff Army Air Base honoring growers and the crop. Prizes talks and exhibits will showcase latest advances in potato farming with entries expected from western Nebraska eastern Wyoming and northern Colorado.
