Dalton Church Burns Mortgage Celebration at St Marys Dalton

The St Marys Dalton parish completed a $90,000 church mortgage with 60 families contributing since 1959. The brick church, dedicated in fall 1959 to replace a 51 year old frame building, saw debt fully dissolved in four years through bake sales, dinners, rummage events, and fundraisers.

Stars of Tomorrow dress rehearsal Friday at Sidney Junior High

Stars of Tomorrow rehearses at 7 30 p m in the Sidney Junior High auditorium with the Sunday show at 2 p m. Kiwanis sponsors say tickets are available at the door and proceeds fund the event. Co chairs Neil Allison and Vernon Shoopman announce Ron Reidler and the Sidney Junior High Concert Band will perform during judging. 19 acts out of 50 original entries compete for district prizes. An added attraction is the Hi Litems, 1963 grand prize winners, plus numerous soloists and groups from the area.

Academy To State Meet From Lodge Pole Victory

St Patrick's Academy of Cheyenne County earned a state tourney berth by beating Crawford 60 to 55 at Lodge Pole last night. It marks their second straight trip and caps another strong season for Coach Rollie Bevan as the Irish head to the state meet unbeaten last year.

Saturday Rites For Native Of Cheyenne County

Funeral services for Rudolph H. Namuth 63 will be Saturday March 7 at 10 a.m. from Gehrig and Son Funeral Home. Namuth a native of Cheyenne County born February 12 1901 in Lodgepole died after months of ill health at his home southeast of Sunol. He married Marguerite Zimmer man August 29 1933 in Sidney and farmed until his death. Survivors include his widow three sons Duane Ronald Fenneth a daughter Margean a grandchild two brothers Ernest and Walter and a sister Mrs Bertha Fraass.

Mrs May Wilt 43 year area resident dies at Memorial Hospital after hip fracture. Funeral March 9 at Immanuel Lutheran Lodgepole with Rev John Schmidt officiating. Survivors include three daughters and four sons, 13 grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and siblings.

Three Missouri youths face county auto theft hearing

Harold V. Fuller Jr. 17, William C. Woodall Jr. 15, and Daniel Dale Brown 16, all from Missouri or Kansas City, were arrested two miles west of Potter after erratic driving. They allegedly stole a 1957 Chevrolet from in front of Devel County High School in Chappell. Sheriff Floyd Stahl expected pleas of guilty and noted the trio ran away from home aiming for the West Coast.

Marathon Spain Refinery Starts on Stream Near La Coruna

Marathon Oil Co reports the Span ish refinery in which it holds about a quarter of the stake began operations Tuesday. The 40,000 bpd plant sits on Spain’s northwest coast near La Coruna, built at about 28 million dollars by Petrofiber with Marathon linked to the Spanish government and private interests. It includes a marine terminal, docks, and storage for over two million barrels of crude oil and products. Marathon supplies Libyan crude oil by tanker to the site storage facilities since late January.

Boeing to Move Technicians for Minuteman Project in Nebraska

Boeing will start moving technicians into western Nebraska and nearby states in May to assemble and check out 200 Minuteman missiles. About 400 workers will be in the Sidney area with housing in trailers near Kimball Wyoming and barracks at Sioux Army Depot. Training groups from the Site Activation Task Force will arrive for 90 day rotations, with final completion expected in 1965.
