Western Nebraska Commercial Clubs Organized at Alliance

Eleven counties were represented and a Sidney meeting is planned for April to address urgent matters. Officers include Runyon as president and McCleneghan as secretary. Reed Maas wed in Denver in February courtroom ceremony

David K Reed and Julia Woith Maas, both of Denver, married by Judge Chambers on February 27. The event coincided with a New England Methodist dinner that drew a large crowd despite harsh weather. Helpers were provided rides and supplies stayed dry, yielding $45 above expenses from the dinner.

Mrs Cleaver Honors Local Modern Woodmen Meeting

Mrs W S Cleaver Grand Chief of Honor of the D of H of the A O O W visited the local order for a special Wednesday evening session. The gathering included a noted address by Mrs Cleaver and visitors Mrs Bartholomew and Mr Mead of Kimball. A luncheon followed the meeting and Mrs Cleaver left Thursday night for Chadron, planning return to Sidney later in her travels.

Declamatory Contest Tryout Sets March Dates at High School

Owing to many entrants a preliminary declamatory contest will be held March 11 at 8 p m in the High School Auditorium. Four top placers in each class advance to the opera house contest March 13 with winners going to the district in Alliance on March 25. Admission costs 25 or 35 cents for prelims and 25 or 35 cents for the final. Proceeds fund local declamatory efforts and winners' travel. A dramatic contest is canceled due to only three entries. Readings and speakers are listed with the march 11 program and judges to decide March 12's contest results.
