Nebraska Snowstorm Brings Wet Snow and Damages
Crews from Scottsbluff and Ogallala aided Sidney repair efforts after a 3 to 4 inch moisture storm. The worst line damage was between Sidney and Sunol. Temperatures stayed above freezing preventing serious highway issues. Rural roads were slick, cars slid into ditches, and phone and power lines suffered. The storm soaked soil and benefited farms with unusually wet snow in ideal weather. Private losses to utilities may reach hundreds of thousands.

Marine Life Evidence Found Near Alliance Well
Shells the size of a man's hand were found in the Pierre shale at Hall No. 1 well ten miles southwest of Alliance by Nebraska Oil Co. Drilling at 1,806 feet, C. L. Price says they may reach the old sea bed in 200 to 300 feet. Wet hole conditions slow progress while a dry hole awaits. The find supports Nebraska oil prospects beneath inland sea beds, with similar pay zones in Kansas Oklahoma New Mexico and Texas.
