GOP Caravan To Town Wednesday Reported Theft and Local Elections
A Kimball farmer reported 150 bushels of wheat stolen from a storage bin 10 miles north of Kimball. The grain, insured for fire but not theft, may have been taken between Christmas and Wednesday. Officers reported no arrests. In Keith County voters will decide on bonds for a courthouse, jail, and a North Platte river bridge at the November 5, 1940 election. The county commission favors submitting the question to voters to gauge majority opinion. Also, 700 eight inch Rainbow trout were stocked in Winter and Nine Mile creeks east of Scottsbluff as the season opens, with further shipments anticipated. In Mitchell, four dairy herds and one nearby were found infected with Bang’s disease, prompting testing requirements under a January city ordinance.
