State Treasurer reports cash drop in February balances
State Treasurer Jensen said the general fund fell by 146,918 to 6,898,035 for February with 2,557,249 in payments and 2,410,331 in receipts. Largest item was 721,130 from gas tax, followed by 688,758 in state and federal public assistance. Other funds show current and permanent trusts and bond investments, with total balances across all funds at 21,506,929 versus 21,830,596 prior. Cash on hand totaled 7,555,327.

Mrs. Anna Brandt aged 78 died Wednesday morning at her daughter’s home northwest of Gurley after illness and old age. A Vechtel, Germany native who came to the United States ten years ago, she leaves four children, a sister, eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral at Grace Lutheran church Gurley this afternoon at 1 30 with interment in Dalton cemetery.

Maupin Granted $700 Fee as Referee in Contempt Case

Maupin of Ogallala who served as referee to take testimony and report findings in the contempt of court case against County Judge Barlow of Cheyenne county was allowed $700 as a fee to be taxed as costs by the supreme court Monday. School board sells two properties for five thousand each
The board closed Monday night deals on the Smith-Hughes and Central school properties at 5000 dollars each after extended discussion.
