Federal land bank and commissioner loans totaling about 147 800 have been paid to Cheyenne County farmers since January. Loans include 31 federal loans totaling 95 900 and commissioner loans 51 900, with prompt action reported on all applications. The Omata branch improved after earlier protests, pouring loans into the panhandle. Applications continue to arrive as farmers in distress gain access to government aid not available elsewhere. George Irwin of Bridgeport was re elected district commander of the American Legion at the annual convention at Kimball Monday. Lawrence Schwarin of Potter was named vice commander, and Ernest Bloms of Dalton commanded Cheyenne counties. State officers of the Nebraska department and federal relief administration officials spoke on the afternoon, with Golden P. Kraiz of Sidney among them. Governor Leslie E. Miller of Wyoming spoke at the banquet at the Wikeatgrowers hotel. Harvey Schaeffer Is Buried On Wednesday
Funeral services for Harvey Schaeffer a Sunol area farmer were held Wednesday at the Methodist church with Rev G M Brox officiating. Interment followed in Sidney Greenwood cemetery. Schaeffer born August 2 1872 in Middleburg Snyder county Pa died February 24 1934 at Sidney age 61 years 5 months 22 days. He married Lydia Edna Werner December 7 1897 and they had four children Mary Beeson Grace Rosecrans Ivan and Lyle. The family lived in Cres ton Ia Elgin and Sidney before his death. He leaves four children eight grandchildren two brothers and four sisters his wife having died in 1931. He was active in Sunol Union Church and Sunday school.

Large share of Cheyenne county snow melted by yesterday afternoon as warm temperatures returned after a subzero cold snap. Readings ranged 20 to 30 degrees above freezing at higher elevations with some deposits remaining in rural spots. Snow cover largely gone in towns and flat areas. minimums stayed at or above freezing. The end of the winter spell and its modest moisture helped winter crops with little or no damage expected. Dalton Boy John Fecht Dies After Brain Tumor Fight
John Fecht a 13 year old Dalton lad died Tuesday after a six month battle with a brain tumor. He spent 14 weeks in an Omaha hospital where top midwestern brain surgeons attempted a delicate operation that failed. Stricken last September he was brought home after a setback and left totally blind and partially paralyzed. His mother stayed at his bedside for over 15 weeks as he endured the illness and its progression.

Bus Driver Injured In Collision West Of Brule
