Missile launch control flights in Cheyenne County will be dedicated to Sidney Gurley and Dalton during the July 4th week. Ceremonies at the Sidney site will by July 4 and the Gurley Dalton site July 6. Gov Norbert Tiemann of Nebraska will attend the July 4 ceremony with dignitaries as the public is invited.

$700 Damage In U. S. 30 Mishap Near Sidney
A mobile home and a semi-tractor trailer were involved in a two-vehicle collision on U. S. 30 four miles west of Sidney late Tuesday. No injuries were reported. The pickup towing the home belonged to H. C. Smith Construction Co. and was driven by Carl L. Ayers. The semi belonged to Earl E. Richards. no major damage to the pickup occurred. Trooper Paul Manley investigated.

13 Year Old Sidney Girl Fights For Life
A 13 year old Sidney girl lies in grave condition at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha as doctors ponder the cause of her unconscious state since last Saturday. Christine Pohl, daughter of Mr and Mrs A R Pohl, was riding with companions when found on the ground with a blue face. Doctors report no head injuries and no external bruises, yet she remains in a deep coma. Suspected suspended breathing before rescue may explain the collapse. The family has lived in Sidney for about two years.

Hailstorm Causes Heavy Crop Damage Near Dix
A hail storm south of Dix last night damaged crops severely with near total loss on at least one farm. Mrs. Laurence Tobler eight miles southeast of Dix reported 100 percent damage, while other nearby farms also sustained significant losses. Meteorological notes include rain totals in Potter and Lorenzo areas and light showers in Sidney.

Piano Fund Reaches Goal For Historic Fort Sidney Piano
The McFadden Piano Fund hits $4000 with new donors including Potter Beta Sigma Phi and Dr. C. S. Cornelius. Leona Brown and Leona and Ronald Brown receive a lifetime membership from the Cheyenne County Historical Association for a $2000 start and $250 final gift. The historic piano, purchased from the McFadden sisters, now rests at Old Fort Sidney as part of restoration.

Bond Set For Sidney Man In No Account Check Case
Walter Pursley 48 of Sidney is jailed under a 350 bond after allegedly passing a no account check. He was arraigned before County Judge Sydney Finch on June 26, waived preliminary hearing in County Court. The check was drawn on First State Bank of Lodgepole and cashed at Sidney Conoco on June 9.

Man’s Lucky Day Ends With Suspicion After Abandoned Car
An unidentified man left his 1952 Oldsmobile in a ditch near Ogallala on June 25. A passerby and a trucker helped move the car. Zalesky Frontier Station staff alerted Nebraska Safety Patrol. Sgt Felix Koenig investigated and found the car abandoned three miles west of Lodgepole after a nearby farmer said a youth had just hitched a ride away.
