Sioux Army Depot Prepares to Close After 25 Years of Service
The Sioux Army Depot in western Nebraska will officially close at midnight as workers empty desks and cabinets ending a 25 year run. Since 1964 the closure has moved 5500 box cars and 1000 truckloads of material, with 474 original staff reassigned to other posts and 131 veterans retiring. On closing day 61 civilians remain and only two military personnel stay to oversee the handover.

Final rites for Raymond John Erickson 74 of Kimball were held at First English Lutheran Church with Rev Lud wig Scholl officiating. Born June 24 1892 in Saronville Nebraska he married Nannie C Erickson July 16 1916. The couple farmed near Potter and Dix before settling in Kimball and later moving to Orland California before returning to Kimball.
