Pony Express rerun may ride without horses across Nebraska
A planned Pony Express rerun from Mount Vernon Washington to Valley Forge Pennsylvania may proceed without horses across the southern Panhandle. Cheyenne County Sheriff Oren Cox reports no riders in Kimball Cheyenne or Deuel Counties are ready to carry mail citing dangers of night riding and road ditch hazards. The relay would cover 10 mile segments and require about 11 riders to span the three counties. The schedule has Mount Vernon leaving on Tuesday at 8 45 a m and arriving Valley Forge July 4.
