A new oil pool opened on the Mrs. O. C. Dimick farm four miles southwest of Sidney. Ohio Oil Co. lease. acreages farmed to Dun and Boring of Denver and then Harper and Turner of Oklahoma City. No. 1 Dimick showed initial lack of recovery but deeper core yielded over ten feet of oil saturated sand. Oil flowed from a test at 4,966 to 4,978 feet. small gas amounts noted. Dry hole nearby. Ohio gas and Fleming pool activity also reported.

Sixty nine grain men from Cheyenne Kimball Scotts Bluff Banner Morrill Garden and Deuel counties attended the District Nine meeting of the Nebraska Grain Feed Dealers Association in the American Legion Club Monday night. A dinner preceded the business session with talks by Howard Elm secretary of the Nebraska association Harry Clark chief inspector at the Omaha Grain Exchange and president of the Nebraska Grain Improvement Association Leslie Sheffield from the Agriculture College Lincoln and Charles Deaver Sidney a member of the state board of directors.

Cap Bale Develops Training Mock-Up for KC-97 Cargo
Capt Warren J Bale, a former Lodgepole boy stationed at Davis Monthan Air Force Base, created a three dimensional mock up of a KC 97 upper cargo compartment. The maple plywood model shows stations, compartments, tanks and fittings with scale wooden cargo to aid classroom loading training. It costs about seven dollars and helps student crews practice load adjuster placement and cargo tie down without an aircraft.

No. 30 West Will Be Improved Next Year
Governor Bob Crosby told Kimball Chamber of Commerce last week that grading bridges and culverts for the new Highway 30 from the Cheyenne County line to Kimball will start this fall. Hard surfacing will be let next spring with bids likely in July. After July 1 the federal government will cover 60 percent of construction. A 200 foot right of way will be acquired and the new two lane highway could become the north two lanes of an interstate freeway along the route of Highway 30.
