Still setting a pace in local life with frequent visits and gatherings. Notes of residents and visitors include Martin Cape of Dalton in the county capital, Professor Thomas Lynch in Denver, Mrs H G Hall visiting relatives in Broken Bow, and many other journeys and social events across Lodgepole and Sidney.
The annual school meet is set for June 27 with two seats up for election, term expirations of J Oberfelder and J L McIntosh. The school board is praised for steady service, and voters are urged to cast ballots to keep interest in local schooling.
A Sunday 2:30 match between Sidney pencil pushers and business men funds a benefit for Mr Kiseell severely injured while playing with local youths in Ogallala. The lineup lists many local players and managers, with gate charges noted.
On Wednesday at 8 a m at the home of Mr and Mrs C E Harper the marriage of Jake Eckert of Ickes and Bessie Broughton of Bridgeport was performed by Rev Zinnecker. After the ceremony they went to Ickes to begin their home life with well known connections in Sidney and surrounding districts.
The Commercial Club held a regular session last Friday night adopting by laws and constitution, accepting the Fourth of July committee report, renting the Doran and Hadley office for a meeting place, and forming a committee to furnish the same. The meeting adjourned until the next regular session.
An early week auto fishing party at Krenger's lake included Bob Mulloy Miss Maury Jane Jones Miss Marguerite Chase and Shorty Jones. They landed sixty carp each over a pound and numerous other small fish. An advertisement from Oberfelder Clothing Co and J. O. Lobb promotes bargains in clothing and real estate.
A promotional notice describes a large Sidney gathering featuring a morning balloon ascent, parades, two bands, vaudeville, free beef and coffee, multiple races, a ten round boxing match, a free evening dance, and extensive fireworks. A 125 horsepower boiler is being installed at the electric power house. The existing two 100 horsepower boilers create a three-unit boiler battery. Anticipated fall may bring a new dynamo alongside the two current machines. Demand for electric service beyond lighting grows daily, and Supt. Hardy plans to stay ahead of the needs.
Sidney traveled to Cheyenne for a three game series with the Mountaineers and fell in all three contests by scores of 6 to 3, 8 to 5, and 5 to 3. Observers note Sidney lacks cohesion but believe improvements in teamwork could tilt future meetings. The Mountaineers visit Sidney on the 22nd 23rd and 24th with fast, strong play expected.

Colton built a strong lead to beat Sunol 7 to 4 in a Sunday game at Colton. Colton’s battery Erdwin and Wittera starred while Sunol’s pitchers Pavilas and Vacik faced the setback.

Reverend Alfred E Murilese traveled from Poster Wednesday to visit his parents Dr and Mrs Murlese and returned today in Sidney Draw ready for his regular service Sunday.
