Seek Variety Of Wheat To Resist Mosaic Disease
Dr. W B Allington of the University of Nebraska plant pathology department will oversee tests of various wheat varieties to find resistance to mosaic disease. The virus, spread by aphids, was found in the McCool area with scattered damage from Holdrege to Grant, and symptoms include light green striping on terminal leaves and yellowing overall. Factors like soil fertility, temperature, moisture, plant age, and wheat variety affect damage, with late planting noted.
