Ray Tierney president of the American bank helped thwart an apparent bribe plot by Thomas county attorney Ivan D. Evans. Evans allegedly sought $10,000 from E. V. Svoboda cashier of Securities State Bank of South Omaha in exchange for omitting prosecution over incriminating papers. Tierney learned of the scheme during lunch with Svoboda, notified Omaha’s county attorney, and detectives then witnessed Svoboda delivering the money to Evans, who was arrested and the cash recovered.

Motor Boat Capsizes at County Picnic Near Krueger's Lake
Eight people faced danger when a motor boat with seven passengers and operator Earl Krueger overturned near shore during the Cheyenne County Farmers Union picnic at Krueger's lake. Passengers included Mrs. Oakley Otten and several young women and children. All escaped to safety with help from rescuers and swimmers.

Night flying to resume at Sidney air field June 16
John T. McIntosh in charge of the Sidney government air mail landing field announces practice night flights will begin Monday night June 16 and run to June 30. Regular night flights start July 1 and day flights end. McIntosh will oversee the emergency field and operate the searchlight all season. Three mile beacon lights replaced to mark landing spots about three miles apart and will burn day and night for three months without refilling.

Car Stolen From Benefactor by Felon Griffin Era
George Martin alias Gene Morfield pleaded guilty to larceny before County Judge Chambers and is bound over to district court on $1500 bond. He stole W. O. Campbell's Dodge sedan Monday night after befriending the victim, taking clothing money and sleeping in his room. Sheriff Peterson recovered the car within an hour. Martin had four hoboes with him at the viaduct and was jailed in Sidney.
