The Sidney baseball team rallied in the ninth to beat Sterling Legion 8 to 7 after trailing 7 to 1, in a Sunday game watched by nearly 300 fans. Hans Cook kept Sidney in the game on the mound, and Ralph Null delivered the timely hit that sparked the comeback. Prominent Speakers At Bar Association Convention
Plans are underway for this year’s Western Nebraska Bar association convention in Sidney on Friday June 27. About 60 to 75 lawyers are expected with judges from supreme and district courts in attendance. A 11 am session in the district court will include talks and business matters, lunch at St Patrick’s auditorium, then golf or town tours. Fred Wright and G H Hastings head the principal speakers. An evening picnic at Krueger’s lake follows with dancing to close.

Johnson of Potter as chair. A constitution and by laws were adopted and the group begins active work to monitor public expenditures and officers. The committee pledges constructive, non radical action while reserving pressure if drastic steps are needed. The goal is to benefit the community and taxpayers.

An organization of reserve officers from Kimball Cheyenne and Deuel counties formed in Sidney after a chamber luncheon. Majors Brooks and Burke inspired interest in the Citizens Military Training camp at Camp Dodge Des Moines in August. Carl Ledbetter named president for a year with Roy Walker secretary and Claude Gross treasurer. About twenty five ex officers exist in the three counties and seven applied to become officers in Sidney. Monthly meetings will rotate among the counties to bolster reserve officer activity and preparedness.

H MCFADDEN aged 84, long time Sidney resident, died Monday evening at Roseburg General Hospital after a street accident. Funeral at Catholic church in Sidney Saturday 10 AM, Rev Father Link officiating. Burial in Sidney Catholic Cemetery. He had lived in Sidney 46 years and served in Indian and Civil wars. He leaves wife and several children including Rose, Mayme, Katherine, Sadie, John, and Grace. Continued obituary next week.
