City Manager Maynard Dial reports Sidney’s request for 99 500 to fund Phase 2 park improvements at Legion Park was turned down for fiscal 1976. BOR funds were unavailable. Senate action kept the request in BOR file for potential fiscal 1977 funding. Phase 2 would add a double tennis court, lighting, shelters, grills, sprinklers, a footbridge, and road work.

Sidney Nears Bi centennia City Status
Betty Tremain leads the Bicentennial Committee as Sidney gains first approval from the committee for bi centennial city status pending final approval by the American Regulation Bi Centen nial Commission. Plans for a July 4 Bi centennial Day include a youth parade a flag raising ceremony a ground breaking at the Youth Camp and pioneer demonstrations. A 37 star flag will be presented in memory of the first flag flown over the fort. The Garden Club will plant flowers at the Post Commander's home and other groups are invited to join.
